Did you install the Send Later add-on? https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-us/thunderbird/addon/send-later-3/

If so, turn it off or get rid of it.

Also, there is an icon at the bottom left corner of the main Thunderbird window where you can toggle between online and offline mode. When you hover with the mouse over the icon it should say "You are currently online." What does it say for you?
