Firefox not letting me open any page and just says Unable to connect

Today all the pages I tried to load on my Mac just say the same error "Unable to connect The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments. 

   If you are unable to load any pages, check your computer’s network connection.
   If your computer or network is protected by a firewall or proxy, make sure that Firefox is permitted to access the Web.

I tried everything it said and still no luck

other browsers work fine but just Firefox is not letting me connect , does anybody know how o fix this issue?
