Since upgrading Thunderbird to 52.2.0 (Win10), it cannot cope with my large mailing list.
When adding the mailing list to the "To" field, the send button remains greyed out, until I add another single recepient. When sending, I then get "too many contacts". I have reduced the size of the mailing list and this now sends, but only if I still add a seperate single addressee too. Having read someone else's problem with 52.2.0, I tried adding this list from the "contacts sidebar" which I normally do not use - this works and the "send" button becomes active. So what is the upper limit for number of contacts in a mailing list? Why was it reduced? Why can we no-longer type the name into the "to" field box (Thundebird does then show a dropdown list)? Gratefull for any responses, George (been using Thunderbird for many years).

Sorry - no. This list worked perfectly alright until the upgrade.
Does your issue match https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1373670 ?
Hello Wayne, that bug issue addesses one of the problems - the Distribution List name had the round brackets, I was looking for any of those in the actual names in the list! Removing the parentheses i.e. round brackets, and substituting a minus sign instead then adding the contact list name into the "to" field now works (it also worked with the brackets if selected from the seperate contacts list pane). I had "MLAGB(Surrey)" and it is now named "MLAGB-Surrey". The former had worked well since 2007, when I had set the list up! The other problem will, most probably, still be there (the number of entries in the Distribution List cap), but I will have to experiment and put all the original names back and see. I note that there is no spell-checker in this "post a reply" facility. Regards, George.
