Getting pop-up message saying I have a Firefox security issue
I have started getting pop-up messages saying that my Firefox browser has a serious security issue and for me to contact a phone number. !. Is this a genuine Mozilla message, or is it a phishing message? 2. Whtat action should I take in future?

1. No that isn't genuine. Mozilla never communicates via phone. Sounds like malware on your PC. 2. Ignore it in the future.
Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.
You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:
- Microsoft Safety Scanner
- MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware
- Anti-Rootkit Utility - TDSSKiller
- AdwCleaner (for more info, see this alternate AdwCleaner download page)
- Hitman Pro
- ESET Online Scanner
Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one.

Tried Microsoft Safety Scanner but not compatible - not WIN8.1, also tried Malware Bytes but got put off by their setting up process. Ended up using Hitman Pro, which found 1 Trojan and 5 Malware plus 57 tracking cookies. Cleared them then reinstalled Firefox and all seems OK. Not impressed by McAfee which came pre-loaded with my laptop, I used to use Sophos supplied through my Company which seemed to catch everything. Think I shall go back to them when my free year with McAffee ends. Thanks for help. Ratty.
McAfee is primarily an Anti-Virus application, AFAIK it doesn't deal with Malware.
