My old computer is pretty much unusable. So I bought a new one and wanted to install my user profile from the last computer on this new computer. However when I followed the instructions to do so nothing happened. I have done this with another computer before and all my tabs, history and bookmarks came over when I imported the profile, so I'm not sure what the issue is. Can anyone help?

The new computer is a Lenovo IdeaPad Z510, running Windows 8.

Chosen solution

In case you only copied the profile folder and not the profiles.ini then Firefox won't find that profile and keep creating or using the last created default profile.

It is best to only copy the data that you need from the old profile to the current profile and reinstall extension and do other customizations once again.

I found the file that was call #####.default and copied that onto a flashdrive. Then I found the file that was called ####.default on the new computer, and replaced all the content there with the content on the flash drive. This is what I remember doing last time, but I guess I have to do something else because it didn't work this time.

Make sure that you copy the main profile folder in AppData\Roaming and not the cache location in AppData\Local.

I was in the local not the roaming folder but I found the ini file and everything looks good so far! Thank you.
