Invitations come from senders using Outlook and end up in my Thunderbird 'Home' calendar. Compounding the problem, I can't move them to the correct calendar after they're created.

I want them in my GMail calendar, or at least be prompted as to which calendar I'd like to use (as happens in GMail app on my Android smartphone). I've tried 'selecting' my GMail calendar as seen in a 2015 post, but that doesn't work.

Suggestions?

I've discovered this at https://github.com/kewisch/gdata-provider/wiki/FAQ:

"You can only accept invitations into your primary calendar, i.e. the one named after you. Support for accepting invitations is not ideal due to various limitations, but I hope everything works."

Perhaps you should use caldav and not the gdata provider

"Perhaps you should use caldav and not the gdata provider"

Why? Give me good and valid reasons.

Regardless, CalDAV doesn't support Tasks, which GData Provider does. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1570933
