Should I empty my trash that is in junk folders in local folders?

This may have been addressed before but my trash and junk emails in local folders are starting to build up. Should I leave those folders alone or empty them out?

You should clean them up. For Junk you can automate that in your account settings, e.g. delete junk messages after 14 days.
