I am getting post-dated (e.g. 2999) junk e-mail that, because of the date, pushes my real e-mail back in the queue. How to block?
I've marked them as spam, but they still show up. Please help.

Have you marked them as spam on the mail provider's webmail page? That might be the most effective method. Do you have junk controls enabled in Tools/Account Settings?

Before I wrote to you, I had fooled around with the settings and apparently "fixed" things, as these pesky junk e-mails (some were dated a thousand years hence) stopped showing up. Thanks for your help.
