Before changing my webmail account (Doteasy) from POP to IMAP if I deleted a message on the webmail that was already in TBird it stayed in the Inbox in TBird. Now when I delete on the web it is also moved to trash in TBird. I don't have much storage on the web so I often delete messages from the web but want them to stay in the Inbox on TBird. Is there a way to do that?

You are now using IMAP. Imap accounts show what you have on server. Folders synchronise with server folders, so are like a virtual view of what is on server. The folders in Thunderbird will only show what is in those folders on the server, so if you delete in webmail or in imap account then it will be deleted in both.

You would need to get a fully downloaded copy from imap account into a folder in 'Local Folders' mail account, then you have a copy outside of the imap account. If you can read that 'Local Folder' email in offline mode then you have a good copy.
