If I paste into Tbird, it's okay if the font for the pasted info differs, but is there an easy way for me to get my standard font for a subsequent paragraph?

I sometimes paste something into an email. The pasted text will have the font, spacing, etc., it had from its source, which is fine. However, when I type a subsequent paragraph it retains this "foreign" font. Is there an easy way for me to return to my standard font, spacing, etc. for my next paragraph? I suppose I could change it manually, but frankly I forget what my standard font is. It's something I chose a long time ago, and it's not something I carry around in my brain. It would be great if there's a button I could push which would restore things to the way they would be if I were starting a new email. Does this capability exist?

It's generally recommended to Paste Without Formatting (Ctrl+Shift+V) from another app. If you do that, does the format remain the standard?
