I want to import My address book from Windows 10 email into Thunderbird. Having spent quite a few hours looking through on-line advice I decided to use the download of 'MoreFunctionForAddressBook' plug-in. I have tried downloading this for a number of different suppliers as I was getting a warning from all the providers of the download that' the download won't be installed as it is CORRUPT... Now many hours on I still can't replace my lost contacts that suddenly disappeared from my Thunderbird address book, leaving only a few of the original list???

You help on this would be much appeciated. Thanking you in advance James Scott

When you say outlook are you saying outlook.com as well? If so There are add-ons that will sync that. See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1173575

There is only one true location to download the add-on, the authors web site https://freeshell.de//~kaosmos/morecols-en.html

However it has not been updated for Thunderbird V60, so it only works with Thunderbird versions up to 59.

It is not listed on addons.thunderbird.net as one of his addons hosted there. https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/user/Paolo_Kaosmos/

Thank you Matt, I very much appreciate your response. I initially tried from the authors own site and then in desperation I tried other routes - without success. As I had an unexplained loss of most of my contacts on Thunderbird I need to import my contacts list to fix the loss. I can't seem to find a way to import them. I have a complete list on my Windows 10 mail I also have a complete list of contacts stored in my documents, which I believe are in CSV format- But it is about 5 Years out of date... I did have a good list on Outlook which I don't use on my PC now but I do on my iPhone and iPad. Any thoughts or suggestions please?

James

Version 1.0b8 of MoreFunctionsForAddressBook is compatible with TB 60.* (see the release notes). Drag this link onto Tools/Add-ons/Extensions in TB to install.

If you export your contacts from the iPhone or iPad, they will probably be in a single .vcf file. Import it to TB from Tools/Import...Address books...vCard file... select the vcf file.

Sorry but I am able to follow your advice on how I would 'drag' the link into Tools/Add-ons/Extensions in TB to install. I have followed the route to tools/Add-ons/Extensions in TB then tried pasting it in having previously copied it.. but it didn't work. Please would you give me a 'Lady Bird book description how to achieve what you have advised. I did try just downloading it but the Corrupted warning appeared. Thank you.

Right-click the link, Save Link as... and note where the xpi file is downloaded. In Tools/Add-ons/Extensions in TB, click the gear icon next to Search, Install Add-on from File..., select the xpi file.

Note that the add-on is not needed to import a csv file or a single vcf file; it's mainly used to import .mab files and multiple vCards, and to export address books to various formats (besides many other useful functions).
