the 'Deleted' folder doesn't map to the Gmail BIn. and the Waste basket icon seems to be a 'local' folder. I was using folderflags add on to manually sort this but I see this add on now not supported on ver 60.

Hi jlearwig, It sounds like your trash folder isn't mapped to the folder on the server.

First, make sure you are subscribed to the Trash folder on the server.

  1. Right-click on the account, and select Subscribe.
  2. Make sure that there is a check mark beside the Trash folder for that account.

Second, make sure deleting a message sends it to Trash folder.

  1. Right-click on the account, and select Settings.
  2. Select Server Settings.
  3. Under When I delete a message, set it to Move it to this folder, then click Choose Folder and set it to the Trash folder.

Well it is fixed - sort off ! deleted email folder in Gmail's web client is called 'Bin' - this wasn't Subscribed so it did not appear in folder tree or in setting dialogue. Easy to say "Ahh Ha" now, but issue was clouded by the presence of a 'Deleted' folder and a 'Trash' folder both inside the 'Gmail tree' and a "Deleted" local folder. Annoying the wastebasket icon would appear on the Deleted' folder during start up only to disappear ! The Trash folder was subscribed, as was the 'Deleted' folder in the Gmail tree & the quoted setting for deleted email was selected on these -but only when 'BIN' was subscribed has the proper icon appear & stayed there!

I hope this 'fix' stays 'fixed'
