I've lost my password to log into Thunderbird. There is no provision to change it, and it wasn't saved by Thunderbird password manager. There MUST be a way around this problem. Please help.

Hi Soughtton, If you're referring to the master password feature, you can reset it using the instructions in the following article: Protect your Thunderbird passwords with a Primary Password.

If you're referring to the password for a gmail account, could you try the steps in the following article, and see if it helps: https://www.lifewire.com/how-to-recover-a-forgotten-gmail-password-1172087

Do you log into your email using a browser?

No-one seems to have an answer. If Thunderbird is this hard to use, and communicate with , I guess I'm better off without it. It seems there's no answer to losing your password. This is very poor.

Thunderbird does not have a password. Your email account with your email provider does. That password is administered with your email provider. You have to contact them when you forget your password. Even if you are not using Thunderbird.

If you are not prepared to answer simple questions then you will obviously be very disappointment with any support you get anywhere.

I asked you a question and go no reply, so the support process stops exactly there. until you do. I still do not have an answer to that very simple question so any failure of the process to move forward rests with you. So please do no complain about a lack of attention when you stopped the process moving forward.

Most folk coming to this forum looking to passwords or resetting password because they are being asked for them and have forgotten what they are actually have a problem with their internet security suite, not Thunderbird at all.

Hi I am having a similar issue.

My Thunderbird will not accept my new password for Spectrum. Until today, thunderbird worked great.

I keep trying to put it in Password Manager, and it says not correct.

It is weird, I sent myself an email, even see my message in "sent". However, I don't receive it in my Spectrum email, so it was not sent.

I do not know where the SMTP is located, and can't find any help on that....is that where I enter the password?

Thanks for any help.

I suggest you ask your own question. This topic is solved, and if the solution does not help you, then clearly the issue is not the same.
