How to migrate Address Book and email after Outlook is uninstalled, never exported first.

more options

My brother decided to start using Open Office and Thunderbird, due to the expiry of his Office 2016 license. He uninstalled all the Office products and then installed Open Office and Thunderbird. All worked OK, when he started T-bird it downloaded a few messages.

Problem he has is that he didn't export his address book or any of the old messages. With Outlook gone he's stuck.

I got called and when I searched Google all hits said to export from Outlook then import into T-bird. He no longer has Outlook.

Is there a way to somehow recover his address book and old emails into T-Bird without Outlook, maybe from the raw files. They must still be there, as only the software was uninstalled??

Thanks for the reply Fabian, This morning after a good search we found the Office product code. He has 3 days left before it expired so I reinstalled Outlook. It used the old .pst file and nothing was lost.

I then used a free for Home Use product, MailStore Home, to transfer the address book and emails from Outlook to Thunderbird.

He's happy again.

Was his address book synchronized to outlook.com ? Maybe it's still possible to export from there.

Can you find any *.pst files on his PC? There may be a leftover backup of all his previous data which can be used to export such information.
