Firefox doesn't redirect properly on some websites

more options

OS: Arch Linux 4.14.15-1-ARCH x86_64 Firefox version: 58.01

Example site: https://accel.peoplesgasdelivery.com/

Hitting the big green Login button should take you to https://ids.integrysgroup.com/nidp/idff/sso

For me, that url does briefly flash in the url bar but then I am immediately redirected back to the initial homepage. This happens every time I hit the login button.

I have default settings in my firefox but have also tried turning off the following settings: - Block pop-up windows - Block dangerous and deceptive content

with the same effect. It also happens in both Safe Mode and in a private window.

Chrome does not have this problem.

This is not the only place I've had a similar issue. For example, I needed to use Chrome to register an account on Mozilla support in order to ask this question. Attempting to use Firefox in any configuration took me to an Access Denied page after entering my email/username/password. (As such, I couldn't hit automatically add my browser details when submitting the report.)

Can anyone tell me what's going on? This basically breaks the web for me.

Chosen solution

I spent a while tooling around, uninstalling, reinstalling, etc. I seem to have fixed the issue. There must have been some setting deep in my preferences that was messing me up and I unset it.   Thank you for the help, @cor-el

Are you using the Firefox version from the Mozilla server or the version from the repositories in case this makes a difference?

You can check for problems with preferences. Delete possible user.js and numbered prefs-##.js files and rename/remove the prefs.js file to reset all prefs to the default value including prefs set via user.js and prefs that are no longer supported in current Firefox releases.

You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks and history and cookies and passwords and cache and exceptions, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.

Thanks for the advice. I am using the firefox package from the arch repositories.

I tried the following, unfortunately with no success:

- clear all site data

- clear all cached web content

- delete my prefs-1.js file (the only numbered one)

- rename my prefs.js file

I still get the same behavior in regular mode, safe mode and a private window.

Does anything come up if you inspect the Network Monitor?

You can check the Web Console (Tools -> Web Developer) for messages.

You can check the Network Monitor to see if content is blocked or otherwise fails to load.

If necessary use "Ctrl+F5" or "Ctrl+Shift+R" (Mac: Command+Shift+R) to reload the page and bypass the cache to generate a fresh log.

Nothing is obviously out of place to me looking at the Network Monitor, though I could be missing something. There are some 200s, 302s and 304s. Some cookies are set and read.
