Apparently since a recent update, Thunderbird no longer saves my preference for allowed remote content. I can add exceptions during each session and they remain there until I close Thunderbird and restart it, at which time the exceptions list is blank. I have tried it several times, with the same results each time.My .thunderbird folder permissions are correct as far as I can tell. For now, I am allowing all remote content, but that is never really a good idea.

Is the prefs.js file being updated on Thunderbird shut down? Have you checked your access control on that file?

Actually you are answering two posts for the same problem of mine. I apologize for the duplicates. If there is a way to merge the two ir mark either as duplicate, you are more than welcome to do so.

Prefs.js permissions are view:anyone; write:only user; execute:anyone

Yes the file is modified each time Thunderbird is closed.

I have this problem too. Prefs.js is being updated upon exit, owner has read+write on all files in the profile directory.

I've reinstalled Thunderbird but same problem. I tried running in safe-mode but same problem.

I'm running Thunderbird 52.7.0 (64-bit) on linux.

Any suggestions?

I found that the problem only seems to appear when Thunderbird from a Suse rpm package is used. I use openSUSE Tumbleweed and only people using different versions of Suse Linux systems seem to have the problem. It has not been solved yet, other than removing your Suse native version and install a version directly from Mozilla (Not the Suse Mozilla repo).

If you use a Suse product, the bug affects you. This was not a Mozilla problem. Suse people are working on it and are close to a solution.
