Set custom picture to appear when opening a new tab

In the previous version of FF, I managed to take a jpeg saved to my computer and set it as the default background for all blank tabs. I was also able to customize the entire color of the new blank tab as black as well. Can I still do this in the updated FF version? If so, how? It's been so long that perhaps I simply forgot the process I went through to customize the tabs in such a way.

Thanks! Z

Thanks ddtudoran-- my apologies; I forgot to mention that I had already read through that entire page prior to writing my question and, unfortunately, and there's nothing there that addresses the issue.

Just to clarify: I want to customize the appearance (the background and color) of the new tab rather than alter the bookmarks and 'top pages', 'highlights' etc, etc that pop up. Before I updated I had a black-colored tab with a single picture set as the background and a google search bar.
