Hello all,

I know that it seems 'yet another pocket missing dupe question' :P, but I already tried basically all solutions that I found around, in the last couple weeks.

I also already sent a support request directly to Pocket, without any response in the last weeks.

I've been using Pocket+Nightly for quite some time, without any problem. After an automatic update it gone missing.

I'd appreciate if someone could give further instructions about how I could debug this. I tried every suggestion that I found, without success.

- Firefox Nightly 57.0a1 (2017-08-07) (64-bit) - Linux precision 4.12.5-041205-generic #201708061334 SMP Sun Aug 6 17:35:26 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux - Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya

- Pocket is enable in about:config settings... - I can not manually find the icon in the customize screen and drag it. - I have no special plugins or system settings. (except one zoom plugin installed in only one machine, after the problem existed) - The error occurs in two different machines (both Linux Mint 18.2). - I replicated the error in a different machine with fresh install of Mint 18.2

- I'm using Mozilla Sync with only Bookmarks/Logins enable; without Add-ons or Preferences Sync. This could have any influence?

What else could I try to fix this?

Thanks

Chosen solution

If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the Customize palette then click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette window to restore the default toolbar set.

Hi

When you are browsing a web page, the Pocket icon should be found at the right hand end of the address bar.

As part of the redesign for Firefox 57, it has been moved there from the tool bar.

Hello Seburo,

I just realized it now! :P I looked for a solution for many days without realizing the icon was right there! haha

Since it was also removed from the 'customize menu' icon view, it really made me thought that it was missing.

But I noticed that it does not appear when you have a New Tab, without being in a website. I think that during my tests I always opened ffox and searched for it, without prior navigating to some website.

IMHO it could appear somewhere else as well, in the addons/plugins menu, for instance. (if it does not already and I couldn't find it).

If you just open Nightly (empty tab, without navigating to any website) you can not go directly do Pocket (and recover one saved address). (at least I did not realize how).

It feels counter intuitive the need to go to some other website to only then be able to recover the one you want, saved in pocket.

If the new location it's in the address bar, it should appear at all times (even in a blank new tab).

Thanks for the help! @cor-el as well! :)

PS: If I want to view my list of saved items (to go to some article), I need to:

- navigate to some unrelated website (then pocket button appears), - click it (then it saved the site) - after the saved successful I see a 'view list' option - and then goto my saved items. (having saved one undesired item due step 2).

Don't you guys think that's an UX issue?

I think that to click on the button and it saves directly it's an awesome thing, very practical.

But how to recover saved items in a better way then mentioned above?

IMHO: - Pocket Icon should always appear in the address bar. - If a website is open, it operates as usual. - If it's an empty tab (without anything to be saved), it goes to my saved items list (currently the icon is not shown in a empty tab).
