Why does a new tab open when I click a link? I hate it,and want to go back to before firefox 49.

When I click a link,it used to open a new window. Since firefox 49,it doesn't. I don't want tabs. Surely someone knows how to fix this?

Type about:preferences#general<enter> in the address bar. Under Tabs, mark/unmark Open new windows in a new tab instead.

Thanks, when I tried that, nothing came up. I am on version 49. I eventually just deleted firefox and re installed version 47.

You can check the same setting on Firefox 47:

"3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Options

On the lower part of the page, there should be a Tabs section with that checkbox. It should work the same way in Firefox 47 and Firefox 49.

I noticed you have the Test Pilot extension, which includes an experimental feature called Tab Center. If you turned that on, try turning it off to see whether that makes any difference. Possibly you could start on that here: https://testpilot.firefox.com/
