Firefox 43.0.2 & AdobeFlasdPlayer/Shockwave 20.0.0.235 Crash Constantly! I NEED Relief!!

The following was my previous posting, as despite indication it was solved, it was not resolved and, the utter misery of the problem has gone on ad infinitum; moreover, both the Firefox crashes and the constant freezes of the Shockwave Plugin have grown substantially worse (to the point of user exhaustion!):

Quote: "Shockwave Flash 20.0.0.235 Automatically Updated, however . . . Pursuant to December 2015 Adobe Security Bulletin, I wanted to check my previous Shockwave Plugin update and viola! It had already updated to 20.0.0.235 as of 12/08/2015. Great! Having said that, I also noted that beneath the above update was an earlier November 2015 Shockwave 19.0.0.245, still in place . . . . a bit strange, nespau? Am I mistaken, but the new update should entirely replace the old, not install anew and the older version remain status quo? Does not appear to be a problem perform" (enquote) Solved — Last updated 2 weeks ago 3 replies 2 people have this problem 0 new this week'

I have submitted innumerable Adobe Flash Player reports with commentary, again, nothing forthcoming from Mozilla/Firefox! I have perused and checked out the links to help the plugin, and the MozillaZine About.config reference; however, although I am adept at any PC functions and applications, often these seemingly "tech" articles leave me "out in the dark," as I am not able to compartmentalize them into an action . . . in other words, I can't do it on my own w/out further step-by-step instructions. I have posted unsuccessfully to so many forums, several of which was an wasted exercise as the subject matters was not in their expertise. So, now what?! I know there are super-geeks out there, come on, guys and girls, solve the puzzle(s)!

Thanks in advance, I have a positive feeling HELP will be arriving soon for me, as well as other sufferers! (smile)

Sorry, that you are still having problems with Flash in Firefox.

Previous thread - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1098011 - has a screenshot that shows 2 Flash plugins for Firefox. Not correct and might cause a problem with two plugins for Firefox to choose between and use. [I have seen as many as 5 Flash plugins listed - with 4 "hanging around" after a Flash update.] You should get rid of the older version your self. Adobe Flash has a bit of a reputation for not removing older files when it updates itself to a new version; leaving the user to clean up after it if the "extra", older files cause a problem.

I recommend using the Flash Un-installer program and starting afresh with Flash.

First, grab the Adobe uninstaller from here: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

Then download the latest Flash Plugin version from here: Select the Windows > Plugin-based browsers - the EXE version. https://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html

Run the Flash uninstaller program, then reboot your PC. Then install the Plugin version of Flash, so you'll have a clean installation of Flash for Firefox.

Then after solving the problem with multiple Flash plugins, which was caused by Adobe and their half-@ssed updater for Flash - if you continue to have problems with crashes, please provide us with the latest Mozilla Crash Report ID #'s so we can view your crash reports and see what each was caused by or what contributed to each of the reported crashes. Although you are given the option to provide an email address when submitting each crash report (the message provided there is a bit misleading, IMO) as the crash reporting system isn't intended for user support purposes, it's rare for a developer to contact a user. The "system" is of the overall betterment of Firefox in the long term.

Please follow the steps below to provide us crash IDs to help us learn more about your crash.

  1. Enter about:crashes in the Firefox address bar and press Enter. A Submitted Crash Reports list will appear, similar to the one shown below.
  2. Copy the 5 most recent Report IDs that start with bp- and then go back to your forum question and paste those IDs into the "Post a Reply" box.

Note: If a recent Report ID does not start with bp- click on it to submit the report.

(Please don't take a screenshot of your crashes, just copy and paste the IDs. The below image is just an example of what your Firefox screen should look like.)

Only NEW crash reports that are dated AFTER you fix the double Flash Plugin are needed.

Thank you for your help!
