I was having problems with Firefox so I did an uninstall. I am using the yahoo tool bar, and IE does not work as well with the yahoo toolbar. I start the download and press run-the set up files are downloaded and extracted. Then I am told to enter the "run as" user name and password. I press enter and nothing happens. I have run a complete Norton scan and still nothing. Any ideas? Thanks, Jeff

I am not sure to understand what you mean with "the run as user name and password". Does Windows ask you to confirm for administrator rights?

Otherwise, you can download the full installer of Firefox from this link: Download Firefox full installer for all languages/systems

Didn't have any luck with the link you listed. After files are extracted a window pops up asking "run as". You than need to type in user name and password. After doing this the pop up disappears and nothing else happens.

Could you provide us a screenshot of the windows popup "run as" please?

Attached are 2 screen shots. The one with the "run as" pop up is where I have a problem. Once I enter the user name and password the pop up disappears and nothing happens. Hope you can solve this mystery. Thanks, Jeff

Thank you for the screenshots. There is a few things I would ask you.

I understand now you want to use a modified version of Firefox, which integrates natively the Yahoo Toolbar. I didn't know it exist, and I don't know if this modified version is "safe" either. Mozilla advises to use only the official Firefox release, but if you trust Yahoo, OK.

Regarding your screenshots, I wonder if you use an administrator account or not. Are you using your own computer, or is it a work computer?

It seems to be a Windows issue, so you could try that:

  1. Download the file, and when you get the popup, click on Cancel
  2. Start Windows Explorer and open the folder C:\Users\<user_name>\Downloads (or your default folder for downloads)
  3. Do you find a file called Firefox Setup… or something like that?
  4. If so, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  5. If you get a popup "User Account Control", click on Yes

What happens?
