Chosen solution

Another user posted a similar blank dialog in this thread: Installing, firefox, I end up with a panel and a checkbox that blocks everything. Could you try starting Firefox in its Safe Mode to see whether your issue might also be caused by an extension?

If Firefox is not running: Hold down the Shift key when launching Firefox.

If Firefox is running and you can access the menu: Either:

  • "3-bar" menu button > "?" button > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
  • Help menu > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

and give Firefox the OK to restart.

Both Scenarios: A small dialog should appear. Click "Start in Safe Mode" (not Reset).

Any difference?

You can check for recently installed suspicious or unknown extensions.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
