Why is firefox asking me for an admin password and then not accepting it?!!??!??!

more options

I've already seen the archived version of this question where people are suggesting users who are dealing with this issue to log in via safe mode with networking and then run malware scans. However, I LITERALLY just restored my system back to factory default and then did the following in this order: 1. Opened IE and googled BitDefender 2015. 2. Installed/restarted. 3. Used IE to install Chrome 4. TRIED to use Chrome to download Firefox 3.5.0.1 5. Encountered admin password screen and tried entering the password that I JUST MADE 20 minutes ago when I restored the OS (Windows 7 Home 64 Bit). 6. Then, I began to doubt my memory and reset my windows password. 7. Downloaded Firefox once again and encountered same thing. Entered new password. Fail.

WTF?! Why is this SO difficult to install all of a sudden?! Any help on this topic....I realize it was asked already....I tried to post to there but it just said it was 'archived' and then prompted me to ask a new question. So I would appreciate you guys overlook that this has already been asked and if you can help me out...I'd really appreciate it....Never thought I'd be on a forum asking how to install a web browser LOL.

So you're saying that this problem started when you attempted to install Firefox 35 as you were downloading Firefox via Chrome?

If so, my advice is to download and save Firefox then close Chrome and then run the Firefox installer. Better yet, download Firefox from here - https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html - to get the "full installer" package rather than the "stub installer". And if you still have a problem installing Firefox, install it "for all users" from an Admin Logon User Account rather than a "limited" user account.

Beyond that, you should visit this forum - http://www.sevenforums.com/ - for Windows 7 support, as your issue sounds related to the Windows Logon User Account password - not a Firefox issue.
