How do I reset the default of the shown new tab pictures from 3 to 8?

more options

Hi, Firefox recently did an update. to 33.0. Before, when I opened a new tab, I got 9 thumbnails. Now I get 3. I liked 9, I could live with 8 but it always defaults back to 3 ,and I have to zoom in to increase the number shown. Is there anyway I change the default number shown to 8? Thanks for any help you can give. Terrey Parker

Chosen solution

Firefox 33 has a changed & fixed tile size. Depending upon the screen resolution being used, users may need to zoom out to see all the tiles when it is set for more than 3 x1 or 3 x 2 via about:config from what I am experiencing.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-tools/ can be used to set your preferences for columns and rows without needing to zoom out to see them all.
