a window opens but is blank
When I try to open Firefox a window opens but it is just black with a green band at the top. No toolbars or controls are visible other then to minimize, max, or close the window. Uninstalling & reinstalling firefox did nothing. System restore did nothing. I do still have internet access thru another browser but I only ever use firefox and am hoping I can get it back! I have also already tried going thru start to firefox.exe -p but that pop up box too is just black. I ran my Norton full scan & it said no threats detected. I am at a loss. Any help will be greatly appreciated!

hello Flippy, other users with this problem all had an embedded intel hd graphics card with an old driver present. in case this also applies to you, here would be a link to update the driver, which in turn should also address the black firefox problem.
- Intel HD 2000/3000: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=23764 (for win7 64bit)
- Intel HD 4000: https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=24329 (for win7 64bit)
in case this doesn't solve the issue or does not apply to your system, start firefox into safemode by pressing the shift key while the application is launching & disable hardware acceleration in the firefox menu ≡ > options > advanced > general (that setting will take a restart of the browser to take effect).

Thank you! I think you are on to something here. But more help is needed. I'm sorry but I am really not computer savvy. It says I have a 64 bit driver but not whether it is 2000/3000 or 4000. Could you please tell me where to look to find that information?
