I have a group email (List) in Thunderbird - which I have had setup for years, it is not new. I have always been able to remove addresses and add addresses. It will not delete any address nor can I add one. I am considering just recreating the List and starting from scratch. Any suggestions?

Chosen solution

I think rebuilding the List is a good idea. The inability to change address book entries is often a symptom of a corrupt address book file, so it may be worth your while to rebuild its host address book too.

Try exporting the host address book to an LDIF file then re-importing it. I think this will retain the Mailing Lists. Note - this may be cleanest if you delete the old address book before importing. You won't be allowed to delete Personal Address Book or Collected Addresses, but if you locate your profile, then close Thunderbird you can delete their data files which will ensure a clean start when you import the exported data.

Personal Address Book → abook.mab Collected Addresses → history.mab

The following add-on provides more options for exporting and importing address book data, including tools specifically for working with Mailing Lists.

I exported my address book to LDIF, deleted the Lists(Groups) that were under my Personal Address Book and imported the address book back and it also brought in all the Lists(Groups). I did not have time to find my profile and delete abook.mab, so my Lists(groups) are under a different address book - which works for me. Thank you!
