Firefox is logging me out of websites

more options

After the most recent update I open a new browser and log into my company's ticket system. It eventually logs me out and I have to click the saved user and pass to log in again. Not a big deal, but it's annoying. This also happens with ALL other sites. Gmail, youtube... you name it. I can log in and things work but it eventually logs me off and I have to log in again. Sometimes it does it rather quickly and other times it takes awhile, but it will always happen. This is not happening with IE or Chrome.

Things I have done so far. Uninstall and reinstall fresh Remove all cache files Delete the cookie.sqlite (or whatever it was called) file

Another user reported this yesterday (unsolved). His setup is to start automatically in private browsing mode (in Options / Privacy: "Never remember history"). Is your Firefox set up that way as well, or do you use normal browsing mode?

How do you mean; eventually logs me out ?

Are you working on the site? Did you stop working on that site? Anything else along those lines?

Some web sites will log you out after X minutes of inactivity.

It could be 2min after I log into a site and it will log me off. A good example would be me watching a video on Youtube after I logged in and during the video I get a popup at the bottom of the screen saying I'm logged out. Video is still playing, and I'm still watching it. I have to log in again if I want to see my subs.

Also happens with my companys ticket system. I could have a ticket open in one browser while looking something up in another... 10min later I go back and use the ticket system, click a link to navigate and it take me back to log in.

None of this ever happened until I did the most recent update.

My setup is that way... 'Never remember history'. Has always been that way. I will try to turn that back "ON" and see if it somehow remembers that I'm logged in.

Changing the setting back to 'Remember History' under Options>Privacy>History has fixed my issue, but it's obviously a bug as I don't want my history remembered but don't want to be logged out of websites randomly either.

Thanks for the assistance.

Maybe something has changed with cookie handling in Firefox 31? Previously, a private session accepted all session-only cookies and flushed them when you ended the private session.

Could you try a middle course: select "Use custom settings for history" and adjust the settings so that you can accept cookies and "Keep until: I close Firefox" and turn off the other things you do not want.
