Why do several of my normally used sites tell me that I am not set up to accept cookies?

I have checked and rechecked this. I have Firefox set to accept cookies but several of my normally used sites give me a page telling me by browser is not set up to accept cookies. I just tried to log in to my silhouettes.com account and got this. I even clicked on the "show cookies" under Privacy and it lists silhouettes.com.

Please, someone, help! I have Googled this and I have all my settings right so I don't know where to go from here.

I can't figure out why it's like pulling my own teeth to get a response out of this forum. This cookies business is a problem for me and I don't understand what's going on. Would sure be nice if I could get some help. Thank you.

Nikilet, all answers on this forum are provided by volunteers or, like myself, other users who have experienced the same problem. So, yes, it can be a frustrating experience getting a response.

As to your problem, I've had similar experiences with different solutions/different results. Sometimes it's a timeout situation - the website is experiencing heavy use and doesn't respond quickly enough resulting in FF timing out. There is a way to change the timeout settings but I'm not familiar with the details. A search should turn up instructions. Otherwise simply trying again a few minutes or hours later or at a different time of day may be sufficient.

There are a handful of sites that I've found never seem to work in FF. I give up and use another browser for those. It may not be a solution within FF but it solves the problem of accessing the site.

Of course, it could be the fault of the website rather than FF.

Thank you for the reply. Maybe I'll try just going to a regular forum and see if anyone has any ideas. I doubt it's the timeout situation because with these sites, it's the same story every time I access them -- any time I access them.
