Tabs bar is scrolling

more options

I can't find a way to disable tabs scrolling. This is highly confusing, I have to always look for my tabs and do extra clicks and scrolling. This is very distracting. Also those two buttons - "<" & ">" - they occupy extra space. The left one is especially annoying because I expect a "+ new tab" button to be there. I don' want to test/use this new experimental feature, how can I turn this off? Thank you.

The tab bar scroll buttons appear when you open that many tabs that they do not fit in the current window. You can close tabs you no longer need or move them to a new window until the buttons disappear. See also the tab manager (V) button at the right end of the Tab bar that has buttons to close a tab.

Hi Arseniy, I don't consider this a new experimental feature. Firefox has always had tab bar scrolling when the number of tabs exceeded the space available.

Your tabs are pretty small, so you probably already set the minimum width of 50. But just in case, here's how you do that:

(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.tabs.tabMinWidth and pause while the list is filtered

(3) Double-click the preference to display an editing field, and change the value to 50 then press Enter or click the blue check mark button to save the change. (This used to be 100, so 76 was already a move toward showing more tabs on the bar before scrolling kicked in.)

Some former Chrome users who switched to Firefox have asked about how to just let the tabs get smaller and smaller to avoid scrolling. There is no built-in feature for this, but Firefox can be configured to apply custom style rules to override some of the built-in style rules (like the minimum tab width of 50 pixels). This is not officially supported, but you can find help on the FirefoxCSS subreddit and a newly launched forum on Fedia:
