Since this last update, I can no longer send emails. So frustrating. I can receive all emails. When I attempt to send an email it does one of two things. 1. The Send button is in light gray, which means it is inactive. I press it anyway and it does not send. 2. The Send button is in black, but when I press to send email, it says there is nothing in the Subject box and will not send until I put something there. Of course, there IS something written in the Subject heading, but it does not acknowledge it. I've even tried deleting what is in the Subject heading and then retyping it in, but it still does not acknowledge it so it won't send my email.

So frustrating. Can't respond to any of my business associates for several days now.

I don't understand why I can receive emails but not send them.

Let's see if the Error Console is capturing any errors when you try to send a message.

To open the error console, press Ctrl+Shift+J on your keyboard. Clear the console by clicking the trash icon at the top-left area of the console window.

Click on the Send button and see if any errors immediately appear in the console. If there are, post a screenshot of the console in your next reply.

Followed your instructions and here is what showed up after I cleared and then tried to send a new email (which did not get sent).

I hope the photo provides enough info to help you figure out how to fix the problem the update is causing me.

Except it's been uploading for over an hour and still hasn't finished.

I think try uploading your image as a PNG file. My guess is it is simply to large for this forum software to accommodate.

The small 528 KB still won't upload after an hour, so out of frustration, I've copied several lines from the screen that appears in the photo, into a word doc and have pasted it below. So frustrating. BTW, the red error lines keep populating even though I haven't tried to send out anymore emails.

Still waiting for a solution to this problem.

Right now, because of this, everyone else I know who uses Thunderbird are refusing to update as they're afraid they will have the same problem I'm having.

So, the only button I can click on is to this reply solved your problem, is Solved the problem. And yet the problem is not solved. I still cannot send emails. Help. This impacting my business and personal life. Thunderbird, your update created this problem. Please solve it.

How about you log the send and then we can look and see at what point there is an error.

But I am thinking the actual problem may be your anti virus program, given the issues you had uploading a simple image to this site. (that is you could not)

Just spent 5 hours working on problem to send emails (can still receive them, receiving has never been a problem.) (5 hours I should have been doing my business work, which means I'll be up to midnight trying to catch up.)

Removed antivirus. Still couldn't send emails. Uninstalled Thunderbird. Reinstalled Thunderbird. Still couldn't send emails. Turned off Onedrive since it automatically reinstalled my emails when I reinstalled Thunderbird. So weird since I didn't set onedrive to do this, which is why I turned it off when trying this all over again. Uninstalled Thunderbird. Restarted computer. Installed Thunderbird. Successfully sent an email. But when I Pasted in all my old emails and address book to the newly installed Thunderbird, I cannot send emails. Screaming in frustration. Someone suggested I pay a computer repair person to figure out what in your update corrupted my email.

On Nov 9th I was finally able to SEND an email. It has taken weeks of various tech friends trying various things until this was finally resolved.

Thank you for all your suggestions. I'm not sure which one my friends utilized that actually worked in the end. It did have something to do with copying all my emails, deleting the system, and then reinstalling Thunderbird and then reinstalling my emails. The first time this was tried, it didn't work. The second time, it did.

I truly prefer Thunderbird's email set-up to other systems, but I don't think I will ever update Thunderbird again, not if it will corrupt my email like this has done.
