Firefox keeps stopping to function every 5-10 minutes and lasts for 10-15 seconds. Does not happen with Bing

Please explain the problem in detail. What happens? What is/are the exact error message(s) ?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.
- switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
- do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.
No error messages. The computer just locks up for 10-15 seconds. Really frustrating. The only thing I can do is exit and start over and then it happens again about every 15-30 minutes.
