When I open Tripadvisor the content is displayed as a list of links by subject eg hotels in London, hotels in Edinburgh etc. None of these links work and it is impossible to use the Tripadvisor search facility. The site works perfectly inSafari

Hi, delete ALL references to Tripadvisor, as shown under the heading 'How do I remove a single website from my history?' in this article - Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox, then try the site (not from an old bookmark) again. Note: It may take a few minutes to complete the deletion.

If your question is resolved by this or another answer, please take a minute to let us know. Thank you!

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:

You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
  • press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)

Clear the cache and remove the cookies from websites that cause problems via the "3-bar" Firefox menu button (Options/Preferences).

"Clear the cache":

  • Firefox -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Network -> Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"

"Remove the cookies" from websites that cause problems.

  • Firefox -> Preferences -> Privacy -> "Use custom settings for history" -> Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button# or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

As an aside, some users encounter numerous secure certificate errors and make "exceptions." Because large sites often use multiple servers, making such exceptions can display the site in a broken layout since some content is still blocked. Since well run sites should never generate certificate errors, it is important to get to the bottom of the reason for the errors in such cases. Let us know if that sounds relevant.
