When I turned on my laptop yesterday, my yahoo tool bar and tab mix plus were gone. I tried to reinstall the toolbar through the yahoo site but kept getting a message that it couldn't be verified and was disabled. I was finally able to install it through the addons.,mozilla.org website but this morning, they're gone again. Is this something I'm going to have to do every day now? Why is this suddenly happening?

Hi danicash, Thank you for your question. This new version of Firefox that came out a few says ago has introduced a new feature add on signing. Currently we do know about the Yahoo Toolbar and are looking into a long term solution since event the signed version is detected as not signed in Firefox. This is why it is disabled.

There is a temporary work around that disables add on signing for all add ons, but this will only work for version 43.

  1. Load about:config in the browser's address bar.
  2. Confirm you will be careful if the prompt appears.
  3. Search for xpinstall.signatures.required.
  4. Double-click the preference to set it to false.

Xmarks seems to have been acquired by Lastpass which did update for add on signing: https://blog.lastpass.com/2015/12/easily-enable-lastpass-in-firefox-43...

Starting in Firefox 43, signed versions of Firefox add-ons are now required. For more information, please see Add-on signing in Firefox and https://wiki.mozilla.org/Add-ons/Extension_Signing.

The Yahoo toolbar add-on was updated on December 29, 2015. The latest version fixes an issue where the Yahoo toolbar becomes disabled after restarting Firefox. You should also update your version of Tab Mix Plus if you haven't done so already, to see if the latest version fixes the problem.

If you changed the xpinstall.signatures.required preference to false in the Firefox Configuration Editor (about:config page) as a workaround for problems that have since been fixed, you should reset the preference back to true (the default value).
