normally such issues are caused by a firewall/security software which doesn't recognize & therefore blocks new firefox versions. please remove all program rules for firefox from your firewall and let it detect the new version of the browser again.

sorry, i'm starting to lose the overview now. so far we had these problems:

  • firefox triggering a crash report during launch
  • firefox triggering a profile inaccessible message during launch
  • firefox crashing while it's open
  • firefox not connecting to websites
  • firefox showing two versions of the flash plugin
  • norton toolbar incompatible

maybe we should tackle those one by one instead...

Firefox is still not opening after the restart.

Under Extensions, it doesn't give me the option to Enable Norton Toolbar as it says in the instructions. It says that Norton Toolbar is not compatible with Firefox 36.

Under Add-ons, it continues to disable the newest Flash version along with the older 15 version.

At this point, I will try to do a chat with Norton regarding the Firewall and most likely, I will just continue with IE since the Flash player has been crashing for some time and will not allow me to uninstall it or update the older version.

Thanks for all of your help. If there is anything else you can suggest, I will keep trying.

Thanks,

Karen

Hello,

You were right about checking the anti-virus/firewall. It was not working properly. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and then I was able to uninstall the Flash players (deleted both the older version and the new one). Firefox is also working fine now as the reinstall of Norton must have meshed with the current Firefox version.

Thank you so much for all of your help. I think I am good now, but should I have a problem with Firefox, I will know where to come!

All the Best,

Karen
