Is it possible to sort tags?

I've tried various methods of sorting tags. None of them really represents the conventional output one would consider "sorting". I've had to, for example, prefix categories of tags in order to get some semblance of order. Lately not even this works very well after going through various updates to Firefox.

Further, there doesn't seem to be anything on the Mozilla website for Firefox that addresses this question. Perhaps my library of Bookmarks is more extensive than most, and those who program the interface have never seen a need to provide this capability to sort tags. In my case, since I've used tags to introduce order and fast access to information, tags have become indispensable to that end.

Maybe the reason this capability is missing is because it is not technically feasible. I would like to know whether or not it is so I don't continue to search for a solution.

Hi MozillaFirefoxNewbie, I don't know whether anyone is planning to enhance the places query language with multiple sort levels. That would be nice, but still there is no user interface to build your own queries, so I suspect it's just not a high priority.

Here's another query that might come in handy if you don't mind viewing all tagged bookmarks together on one list. It sorts first by tag(s), then by bookmark title:

  • Name: All Tagged (or whatever you like)
  • Location: 
place:type=7&folder=TAGS&sort=17

You would create that "smart bookmark folder" using the same technique as the earlier one.

Firefox Bookmarks sorting in tags and bug on duplicate tags

| As you can see, I have duplicate tags. I am not making it by myself.
| It is due to my first question on "How to sort my bookmarks in a tag display".

| I tried to move the [Documents] Atlassian - JIRA to an other order let say before the [Documents] Atlassian - Confluence
| Of course the movement is failed and the bookmark [Documents] Atlassian - JIRA still at the top inside tag webteam

| One tag more (I have tried many times and hence duplicated multiple tags)

To sum up my questions, 1. How to order / sort bookmarks in tags view? It is easier to group bookmarks for tracing 2. Will you fix the bug on "multiple tags" created?
