Best way to forbid completely firefox to make requests to some domains? namely fb, twitter, youtube (for China)
Being in China, all pages embedding forbidden sites take minutes to load; most of the time, firefox displays for a while "loading twitter platform" or something similar, before finally displaying the page with "little holes". So I would like to forbid altogether any try to connect to facebook, twitter, and youtube (it would be even best if there was a list of censored sites in China).
(There are also good reasons to ban twitter and fb apart from this contingence).
Disclaimer: there is no political statement in this post. I just want content that is authorized in china to display conveniently, without interference from content that I did not want in the first place.

You can use many different add-ons to prevent Firefox from loading certain sites. These include such favorites as:
Each of these blocking extensions works differently, so compare and find the one that works best for you.

hello, you could try the request policy addon: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/requestpolicy/
per default it will block all requests to domains different from the site currently visited (but with the option to create exceptions of course).
You could perform this outside of firefox. eg, install a firewall on your computer and forbid your computer connectiong to fb and twitter. That way you can have the firewall report that the site is unavailable right away rather than waiting for connection through the Great Firewall to time out.

Request Policy works nice, but is a bit overkill, therefore needs to allow sites on a case by case basis afterwards...
