I have a back button but it never lists a history and is non-functional. I've turned off all add-ons and plugins and nothing helps.
There is no back function. I updated once before and had the exact same problem and so reverted to an old version.

A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
