How to remove a site from Top Sites if the "Dismiss" and "Delete from History" options don't work

Nearly_Done_w_Firefox

I am unable to remove certain websites from the Top Sites in a New Tab. Neither "Dismiss" nor "Delete from History" in the three-dot dropdown menu will remove them. The sites remain in place no matter how often I try. Is there something I am doing incorrectly here?

Open the Top Sites page. Move your mouse over one of the entries. You should see a 'thumbtack' on one side and an 'X' on the other.

The thumbtack locks that entry in place. The X removes it.

Do you have this page bookmarked?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History -> Show All History" or "View -> Sidebar -> History").

Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from this domain like history and cookies and passwords and exceptions and cache, so be cautious. If you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.

You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of involved files.

If you revisit a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
