Can't see attachments from incoming e-mail?

I have a blank white space where it use to show attachments e-mail to me. I can still get them by going to Message>Attachments. Why can't see them in the message anymore? Also the the paperclip that showed there was an attachment is not longer there.

If you start Thunderbird in safe mode by holding the shift key when launching it does it work?

If so you have an add on or theme causing issues.
