Hello

After I updated Firefox to version 39 I can't use it at all, it crashes all the time, I couldn't even write this question from Firefox. I clicked on "Refresh Firefox" button, also I restarted with addons disabled, also I reinstalled Firefox but none of that helps. Crashes are random, after 5-6 minutes of browsing.

If it's relevant, I'm using Ubuntu 14.04.

Sorry to hear that here are some steps that will prevent your FF from crash.

  1. On the keyboard, press [Windows] The image "Windows key" does not exist. + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

You probably didn't see but I'm using Ubuntu 14.04. Anyway these are the last 3 reports, I previously uninstalled Firefox so all reports are removed too:

I installed developer edition (Firefox 40) and no crashes so far, so there is something wrong with version 39 on Ubuntu 14.04

The Ubuntu distro by default has their own (Canonical) build of Firefox. It also will have a Canonical Aurora|Developer available

(I usually have that installed.) Note Aurora is the old name for developer edition. Mozilla rebranded it recently and at the same time changed the default install options for Developer. So for instance Windows users now install it as a separate browser with a separate profile. Something windows users would previously have had to do manually.

At the moment I am posting from Ubuntu14.04 but still using canonical Fx38. I have A Fx update queued and presume it will update to Fx39 at the next restart. I am not getting any unexpected cashes.

Your crash reports do relate to Firefox 39 by the way.
