When I try to store a page in a particular bookmark folder, the Unsorted Bookmarks option only opens a few (perhaps the most recently used) of the folders. The choose option that shows up there doesn't display any of the folders. How do I get to the rest of them?

Sequence: Bookmarks/Bookmark this page/Unsorted Bookmarks/Choose

Bookmark This Page should save the bookmark in the Bookmarks Menu folder and not in Unsorted.

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

This can also be caused by a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

The problem was resolved by creating and restoring from a new backup of places.sqlite as described in the "problems limited to bookmarks" section of your second reference.

Thank you.
