how to ensure my yahoo continuing yahoo mail is kept in local folders?
I just downloaded and put into mirror 'local folders' all my 100 and more folders from yahoo going back 25 years. excellent. I believe they are safe and solid as a rock now? Simple question is how to get all ongoing emails into those folders?
I did all that with an add on called importexporttoolsng which is great but does not live on and monitor new arrivals.
I've been advised to set up an archive folder and put everything in there and i will if i must, of course. but ideally maintaining the current folder structure that yahoo is moving messages into is the best way.
can it be done?

You'll want to use message filters. They are under the "Tools" menu.
Before someone can judge how safe your transferred folders and messages are, they will want to know how you transferred them, from where, and to where.
You'll want to make back-up copies of your data regularly now.
I've been there and it seems to want me to pick one folder to move messages to.. That'll have to do if there's nothing better. I can make one in local folders and call it 'for sorting' or something. but of course it would be much nicer if i had automatic folder to folder copying. inbox to inbox. custom folder to custom folder

Message filters can put one message into many folders, They can be run when new messages arrive and/or when invoked manually.
Apparently, you want an extensive folder structure on Yahoo to be mirrored in local folders and all folders kept in sync, so that when you move a message manually between folders at Yahoo, it is automatically moved in local folders too. Is that right?
I do not know how to do that or whether or not it is possible. You may find an add-on that helps.
But what is your ultimate goal? To ensure a safe copy of your messages? You can do that more simply by setting all Yahoo folders to keep all messages downloaded and making back-up copies of your Thunderbird folder, profile, or message folders regularly.
simply want to keep all my emails. is all. at the same time as leaving the yahoo thing untouched. my understanding is doubtless immature. pop no good because destroys the yahoo record i think? so i use imap. the danger there is yahoo can destroy. like now when seeking to reclaim space. so i use local folders via that inportexportng thing to put everything out of their reach now i want to keep those local folder (more than 100) updated. automatically. is what its all about.

My approach is to keep almost all messages in local folders only and to keep on the server only messages that I need to access from multiple devices.
