"+ New Message" does not open a window for entering a new mail

in latest version (140.0.1esr) clicking on "+ New Message" does not give any reaction. Thus I can't send emails. Clicking on "Write" also gives no reaction.

There is no error message or any reaction at all.

If I click "Reply" or "Reply all" on a mail in my inbox, I can compose and send the email. Also "Edit as new" works.

It's only new mails that don't work.

in latest version (140.0.1esr) clicking on "+ New Message" does not give any reaction. Thus I can't send emails. Clicking on "Write" also gives no reaction. This a known bug that can be avoided by setting a default account in Account Settings. Select an account in the left pane, click the button in the right pane.
