Why does PNC Online Banking not work on Firefox?

more options

I've been trying to access PNC Online Banking using Firefox 67 and 68. It won't work, and I've had to use EDGE in order to do my online banking. I called PNC and they said FireFox is not the best browser to use on their website. They suggested Chrome (which I refuse to do) or EDGE. Is there some sort of work around for this issue?

Hi gregghelsel, I also bank with PNC, and it works fine for me with Firefox. What kind of issues are you having?

Enter my username and password and get this in response:"

"Please try using another internet browser. If you still receive this message, please call the Customer Care Center at 1-800-762-2035 and reference code: 18.7406d217.1563116526.cd19b50"

Called the CCC and they said Firefox doesn't work.

Well, I just went into options, and changed the following: Privacy & Security>Manage Permissions (under Cookies & Site Data)

Entered: https://www.onlinebanking.pnc.com

&

https://www.pnc.com

and clicked ALLOW for each entry. That seems to have done the trick.

Hi gregghelsel, If you still have issues, here's a good option to clear out all information specifically for that site, including login & password, called Forget About This Site: Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox Scroll down to Remove a single website from your history.

Note that you can create one entry for the top level domain to include other domains: https://pnc.com

Not so fast!!

Well, now that I've included www.pnc.com in both the managed exceptions in cookies as well as allowing pop-ups, it no longer works. So, there's something else at play here....

Hi gregghelsel, I don't have PNC in my exceptions and I have pop-ups blocked. Try removing all PNC entries in your exceptions and turn on pop-up blocking. Then do a Forget About This Site on PNC - everything about that site will be removed except bookmarks, including any stored logins & passwords. Try it again. If you still have issues, try Firefox Safe Mode to rule out any add-ons: Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode If you still have issues, take a closer look at your anti-virus.

FYI I use Firefox Custom Security settings: Trackers - In All Windows Cookies - All third party Cryptominers Fingerprinters

Followed all the above steps, and still cannot access PNC with Firefox. Using Edge works, but not Firefox. Disappointing.

I have the same problem since yesterday (9/24/2019) and have tried all the above fixes with no success using Firefox ver. 69.0.1 on a win10 computer. However, I can login using Firefox ver. 69.0.1 on a LINUX (Fedora) computer. PNC also told me Firefox doesn't work on their system since they did a recent update. Any suggestions?

Hi Paul Gilpin, I cleared all cookies & site in Firefox for PNC. Then I removed all stored cookies in a 3rd party utility which I have. Nothing left regarding PNC in Firefox or on my PC.

I then went to PNC, logged in, checked my account and logged out. All new cookies & site data. No problems.
