All my history and booksmrks have disappeared.
I have years of bookmarks that have disappeared and my history is missing. Firefox opens with the tabs that were open when it shut down. I really want my bookmarks back.

Hello,
Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To recover them, follow the instructions below.
- Click the menu button
, then click Bookmarks.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Manage Bookmarks.
- At the top of the Library window, click on Import and Backup and select Restore.
- Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
- In the new window that appears, click OK.
Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.
For more information, see the Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer article. For other solutions, see the Recover lost or missing Bookmarks article.

Thank you.
Followed steps 1-3 but no backup files show for step 4.
Also won't let me drag open tabs to toolbar.
I also tried to find older profile and open it in separate window. No luck, only new profiles.
Bookmarks toolbar does not function at all.
I still have my saved passwords.
Everything is working except my bookmarks folder !!!
Most but not all of my bookmarks disappeared after recent updating. Bookmark Restore (Unable to process the backup file.) and Import from HTML (no items) despite files being there. NO bookmarks are actually imported. Tried to import BM's from Chrome but again no BM's are actually imported from the selected file. Tried to import from my saved BM HTML file which I can open up and see the websites but Firefox won't import data. Uninstalled and Re-installed Firefox and tried above again, but NO JOY!!
I still don't have my bookmarks and the bookmarks toolbar does not accept dragging links to it. My saved links and passwords are still working. I have been logging in to various sites on Firefox just fine, and then I copy and paste the link into Chrome where I can drag them into Chrome's bookmark folders. Not the best solution. I had hundreds of saved bookmarks that I can't access.
Hi Larry, sorry you didn't get additional help. It sounds like your bookmark database is damaged in some way, but it's very weird that you do not have any available automatic backups to restore. Those are usually central to recovery.
Probably you have already in the past 5 days, but if you haven't, please do a regular shutdown/restart of Windows. The reason for this is to free up file locks, complete any pending updates, and flush/reinitialize any system components Firefox depends on.
After that, could you let us know what you get when you run the "Verify Integrity" diagnosis and repair function. That's here:
Open Firefox's Troubleshooting Information page using any of these methods:
- "3-bar" menu button > Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- (menu bar) Help > More Troubleshooting Information
- type or paste about:support in the address bar and press Enter
Near the bottom, there is a section titled Places Database -- that's the file which stores history and bookmarks. Click the button labeled Verify Integrity. There may be a 10-15 second delay before results appear.
If all is well, the report that appears below the button should start with:
> Task: checkIntegrity + The places.sqlite database is sane + The favicons.sqlite database is sane > Task: invalidateCaches + The caches have been invalidated > Task: checkCoherence + The database is coherent
Does yours say that your databases are sane and coherent, or something else? You can select and copy the report, and then paste it into a reply for review and comment.
