Hi! I have an issue. I'm using Mint 16 and Firefox 28. Mathworks' instructions videos won't play saying "Unable to connect to server. Please try using a different browser or try again later. Click here to learn more. Error Code: VE_FMS_CONNECT_FAILED".

Their troubleshooting information did not quite help. Any suggestions? Video does work in Google Chrome.

My flash plugin is up to date (Linux's latest version is 11.2), and clearing cookies and cache did not help. Anyone else?

My firewall is disabled, I've cleared cookies and cache, no pop-up blocker is enabled, and I don't want to use chrome. Have any other tips?

Try disable the hardware acceleration:

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.

You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Then perform these steps:

  • Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
  • In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
  • In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
  • Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:

Did you try start Firefox in Safe Mode?

Did you try create a new profile or reset FIrefox?

Neither safe mode nor disabling hardware acceleration solved my issue...

Per Diego's instructions above, did you try to create a new profile?

What happens when you visit the site in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox?

Diego Victor, the OP is using Linux and not Windows as much of your reply is tailored to.
