Over the years, people have created a number of different add-ons for blocking ads. Those might be easiest, but occasionally cause conflicts on sites that try to detect and counter them. If this is the only site whose ads really bothers you, a custom style rule that hides part of the page might be a good solution.

Do you use a common mail site that a volunteer might also use so someone could take a look? Please describe the pages where the problem occurs (e.g., Inbox, message view, etc.).
