I am having a lot of trouble with bing bar, it seems to have taken over as my search engine , and my bookmarks won't work , is it anything to do with microsoft edge installing itself ?

Hi Pete, two other questions were posted shortly before yours about a Bing takeover and in at least one of the two cases, bookmark problems (1314102, 1314105). Neither of those threads is solved yet, but it seems that something is going around (maybe it's related to a Windows update?).

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

it just slowed everything down , timed out logging into reguarly used sites ( online banking) , this has started happening after an update where microsoft edge had installed itself and taken over as the default search engine , and would not allow switching back to google , which i perfer, I have had to uninstall edge, then manually delete the bing bar section from the firefox selection box,
