How do I get Thunderbird on Windows 10 on the desktop home page
My wife just upgraded to Windows 10 and both Foxfire and Thunderbird are missing from the desktop home page. We depend on Thunderbird for our email, and I have no idea how to get the Thunderbird account on her computer now. Is it hidden somewhere in that new Windows OS (I hate it already!)? Or do I have to go through the whole process of downloading and installing and setting up both programs all over again? My wife did not do backups of windows 7 like she should have, so there isn't anything saved that is useful for this purpose. What should I do BEFORE I start the upgrade process on my PC (which I am now using) or my laptop, both of which are still running Windows 7? At 75 I'm getting tired of all the constant changing going on, none of which has made computing easier or faster, just more difficult. Give me Windows 98SE - it was by far the easiest to use and the easiest to reinstall and not lose anything.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Changes with upgrade to Windows 10 depends on the base Windows. If you had Windows 7/8/8.1, all your programs and files stay.
For your wife's computer, maybe it is just that shortcuts on the desktop were removed, but Firefox and Thunderbird are still installed. To check it, open Windows Explorer and access to the folder C:\Program Files (x86). You may find 'Mozilla Firefox and Mozilla Thunderbird folder.
For your computer, if you want to be more careful, have a look at this support article: Back up and restore information in Firefox profiles.
If necessary, download links:

Thank you, Banban. Unfortunately, Microsoft totally deleted the Mozilla folders when it did the upgrade install, including all her emails and address book. I had to re-download and install both programs for her and reconfigure her e-mail. Thanks to Microsoft, she will have to also re-establish her address book contacts one by one.
I am sorry for you.
Just in case, you could check if there is an old profile folder in C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles and C:\Users\<user_name>\AppData\Mozilla\Thunderbird\Profiles directories.

Tuggerofhearts,
This would REALLY be extraordinary.
Were you really not able to find the folders in %APPDATA% ?
No more replies. I cannot figure out how to stop this search.
