I selected PRIVATE BROWSING to to some security checking, Now I want to return to NON PRIVATE browsing in FF v: 19.0.2? And it's grayed out and cntrl+shift+P doesn't work either.

This function should be built in like previous versions.

How do I return to STD or NON PRIVATE browsing. Yes, I'm the only one who uses my PC and I'm over 21.

cheers,

klxdrt

Hello ariel, with a click you can close private browsing, only if you click the [x] in the upper right corner of the window (or close the window).

thank you

Thanks for the quick response, but it didn't work. Why would FF do something so dumb? Another bug showed up when I logged into the forum, FF 19 didnt remember my log in-pswrd? more nonsense?

What's wrong with this forum's sw. Uploaded image of priv browsing problem then previewed like I have been doing for 20 ys, everything disappeared??? https://support.cdn.mozilla.net/media/uploads/images/2013-03-29-12-00-48-49cd4c.png

Thanks for all your help, maybe someone will come up with a fix for these errors.

cheers & Happy Easter,

klxdrt

Open up Tools > Options -> Privacy and make sure that you don't have Always use Private Browsing mode selected.

hi, ideato,

thanks for tackling this issue.

i'm on firefox 20.0.1. there is no place to click the x in the upper right corner of the window.

i only can move to private browsing mode by clicking "FILE," and then selecting "NEW PRIVATE WINDOW'from the LISTE of options.

i only can close private browsing by clicking on the orange firefox logo at the top left of the screen, top of the screen and clicking on "CLOSE." [i think that a previous poster suggested this method.]

are you, by chance using firefox 19xxx?

i appreciate your advice.

correction to my previous reply. the second para should eliminate the phrase, "top of the screen," which is repetitive. the sentence shold read:

i only can close private browsing by clicking on the orange firefox logo at the top left of the screen, and clicking on "CLOSE." [i think that a previous poster suggested this method.]

thanks!

Hello ariel, you don't have the [x] like the screesshot ?

thanks, idea to.

i had thought that clicking on the "x" would close out firefox, including tabs from non-private browsing.

consider this question "solved."

thanks very much.

you are welcome ariel

The close X on the title bar only closes the current window.

You can use Firefox > Exit or File > Exit to close Firefox and all open windows (private and non-private).
